Another award wining water colorist, and family friend, Guy Lipscomb, Columbia, SC, wrote a book entitled “Go With the Flow” which is what I felt when I painted this watercolor.

The technique I used in this painting was inspired by Mentor Robert Mills, watercolorist from Columbia, South Carolina. The setting was Roanoke Virginia. Simple flat washes with traditional wash techniques.

Giraffe in the Thorns
The Giraffe has a “wet in wet” background treatment allowing the masking liquid to create a reverse pen stroke effect. inspired by Tony Van Haslett.

The background techniques of this work was dropped with a “wet in wet” technique utilizing Making fluid for the thorns in the tree.This is similar to the ” no – fear” technique which I learned at my “Tony Couch” Art Seminar.
